UNICEF is funded entirely by voluntary contributions. UNICEF's work in 191 countries, in close collaboration with national governments and other partners, could not be carried out effectively without the sustained generous contributions received from governments, foundations, UN agencies, international financial institutions (IFIs), individuals and businesses. Our partnerships with these organizations and individuals contribute to the success of UNICEF-assisted programmes and projects and also serve to mobilize resources and strengthen international cooperation in support of the realization of children’s rights.
This section will help you to understand the unique role played by the Public Sector Alliances and Resource Mobilization Office (PARMO) within the UNICEF organizational structure. PARMO works closely with UNICEF regional and country offices to develop and implement organization-wide resource mobilization strategies, and to support and facilitate fundraising through donor contacts at the field level. Through regular interactions with the Permanent Missions, donor capitals, foundations, international financial institutions and UN agencies, PARMO keeps donors informed and interested in UNICEF’s work and thus contributes to mobilizing a large part of the organisation’s Regular Resources (RR), other resources (OR) and for emergency programmes (ORE).
This section will provide useful information for you to learn more about our donors, funding mechanisms, new funding modalities, terminology and the current humanitarian and development issues that prioritise our work.
